Durban - A murder and rape suspect was shot dead by the police after he allegedly opened fire on them when they tried to arrest him in Tshelimnyama outside Pinetown on Wednesday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

“Our members wanted to arrest him after he disappeared immediately after he was granted bail,” said Superintendent Vincent Mdunge.

The man was charged with rape in 2005. He allegedly shot dead his rape victim in front of her parents after the case was opened, he said.

“He then disappeared after killing the victim. He was always on the run until the police arrested him about a month ago in Durban,” he said.

There was an exchange of gunfire during his arrest.

He was granted bail and immediately absconded, said Mdunge.

The cops did the right thing. Even if the murderer was not shooting at them. To many rapists/murderers get vacations at SA prisons one less scumbag to feed clothe and mollycoddle.

Ya i think the cops got mad that a murder and rapist got bail, they do all the hard graft, catch the bad man and then watch him walk out on bail.

Could not think of a better way to ensure he does not get bail again.

Ya i think the cops got mad that a murder and rapist got bail, they do all the hard graft, catch the bad man and then watch him walk out on bail.

Could not think of a better way to ensure he does not get bail again.

Agreed. The courts are failing SA by being soft on criminals such as these.
