Not to sure if anything like this is available in SA, if so could someone steer me in the right direction.

We are running a VoIP network at one remote site we dont want to have to put in a VoIP gateway as we will only be installing one phone. So we need an IP phone, this phone needs to be cordless though. Not to sure if thats what the Olympia does

I have a dualphone +-R950 that can be used as a normal or Skype phone. It is a DECT phone so you can be up to 100 metres from the base station, which in my version is plugged into the USB port of my Skype PC as well as into the telephone line. Your choice wheteher you make Skype or normal calls and you can answer both. There is also a more expensive version which can connect directly to your ADSL ethernet router.

Wonderful, you can buy it online or incredible corruption or Makro.

Edit---> I missed the link in the previous posts, that is the phone I am talking about, my bad>

What about getting one of those new skype phones, all you need to do is plug in a LAN cable thats hooked up to your ADSL, it doesn't even need to be connected to a pc, and it can be used as a normal cordless phone as well.

Well, we are running the VoIP network off a Telkom Opticon VoIP PABX solution, each IP phone's MAC address needs to be loaded on the controler unit to ensure the same extension gets assigned. Not to sure if the above mentioned phones will allow for this sort of config.

The C450 is a standard SIP network phone - it just happens to be cordless too ;)

If you are using regular SIP phones on your current PABX - this one will work - any other USB type phones more than likely will not.

Why not use the likes of a Nokia n80i, got mine linked up to trixbox and works fine, no pc needed, receive, vodacom, telkom and voip on it all at the same time.

But take into account that another voip phone will not have GSM as well. Also when I took mine out on contract had to pay only 600 so seems to be reasonable.

im doing the same thing -just curious, what u using on ur N80? im using FRING

The N80 has the ability to do 'true' SIP voip out the box - no need for 3rd party applications.

Then you use any of the providers that support SIP - I personally use VOIPBuster

Upgrade your n80 to n80ie then when asterisk is setup on n80ie you will have an option when making a call saying internet call, if you need to update your phone PM me and I will guide you in the right direction. Also with this setup yor phone becomes a PABX extention availble even in china as long as you have a wireless connection.
