I see that both these are going to be avaliable in the states by end of nov.

Any suppliers in SA have an informed guess on prices and avaliability as well as dates?

I'm not really asking for guesses, I'm asking if anybody has any inside info that they are willing to share.

Yea im also interested. was gonna upgrade in the beggining of nov but looks like i need to wait a few more weeks...

Don't expect 8800 to be available this side until December. :(

Intel says the quad core will be here (in SA) in early November. Still no word on the 8000 series, note they are already late.

Nope quad cores are released in November...there a few in the country already...but not for sale yet

I hope when they release the quads the price of the core 2 duos will drop. I really want one, the e6600. Its just still too expensive.

If we were in the states we'd already have them.

I think a comfortable price would be R2000 for the E6600, then i'd buy it in a second and I'm sure lots of people here would to even the extremist AMD buggers.

The problem is that most of us will need to buy a new board and ddr2-800 ram and in some cases a new psu.

so this is going to be an expensive upgrade, whether you go for the duo or the quad.

current it doesn't justify parting with the cash, if you look at toms price performance guide.

also guys, tito said you must tighten your belts and save that hard earned money for a rainy day. but if you look at those benchmarks, i think its starting to drizzle!

well if the prices of the core2 duo and motherboards go down... im there... as for the 8800 series i would rather wait for the 8600gt coz the 8800gt is going to be so dam expensive here it won't be funny

since my PC is for 90% work and 10% world of Warcraft .... best scenario for me would be a E6600 equivalent in quad core (oe E6300 equivalent if the cache is all 8MB).

For the card I'd be looking for a 7600GT equivallent so I'm guessing a 8600GT ??

As for memory ... with all the stuff i run in parralel I'll need the 4GB ... which will be fully in use on Vista ...

but the thing is even if they rlease all by nov, it will still be too expensive.

So for that system I think I'm looking somewhere around march-april .... just a guess ...
