Yup, got it all...
It makes perfect sense for Core to ignore my attempts to GIVE THEM MY MONEY (by asking for upgrade quotes, which I will never get), and instead spam me with cr*p I have no interest in.
Sorry to side track the subject..... yes I also got the Valentines day email, but is there some sort of upgrade/trade-up option on old Macs if one day I got tired of my Macbook PRO and wanted a newer model ?

I was trying to get pricing on having the iStore (run by Core) upgrade a harddrive in my MBP, so I wouldn't loose the warranty. I'm still waiting, so I just did it myself.
Only works if you have insurance and proof of purchase.
1. Take 1 glass of water and ....
or
2. Sell it on gumtree.
3. ...
4. Profit !!!
Officially:
You will not lose warranty on the following parts that you replace yourself.
1. RAM
2. HDD
Fin.
HDD, in an early 08 MBP, where you have to open the case? Do you have an official source?
I was a techie at one of the iStore's.
If you break anything whilst replacing anything your warranty expires so if you dont feel up to the job or are unsure rather get somebody who knows to do it for you.
