People still use CorelDraw? One of my happiest days was when we stitched to illustrator way back when.

Doubt if you will find it anywhere.... there is no longer a version for Mac OS X.

Versions for Mac OS and Mac OS X were at one time available, but due to poor sales these are now discontinued.

Have you tried Parallels or VMware? Not sure about VMware but Parallels has a free trial. Then she could run windows virtualised instead of rebooting all the time.

As an inexpensive alternative to illustrator she might have a look at VectorDesigner - http://www.tweakersoft.com/vectordesigner/index.html

From the sounds of what she does perhaps even Apple's own Pages?

On another note - can any of these mentioned apps (besides Illustrator) import a Coreldraw (.cdr) file?

I don't think so, but if you were to export the CorelDraw file as something else like a CorelDraw PDF file then it may work.
