Corporate APN - Benefits

My company is looking for a solution that will allow support staff to access our network, we have a working(?) VPN which is currently accessed via dialup or 3g. Is there ANY benefit to purchasing a corporate VPN, 155 says its 'very' expensive. Anyone on the forum used a corporate APN and knows the ins and outs?
 
Actually the last time I looked is was not that expensive at all.

I was copied on a mail from the Corporate guys to yourself on Friday, the 24th, around 8:30 in the morning. They could not get hold of you via telephone and asked via mail to make contact.

Did you not get it?
 
Although I haven't worked with private APN's before, I do have a feeling what it is all about...

Firstly, you connect using your existing ADSL line to cellphone ISP. Depending in your configuration, you will get IP adresses based on your network. If you connect to the APN from cellphone, it will automatically register you on the same subnet. In other words, you do not need to use a VPN client to access your network, you will be connected directly.

Number op hops decreased - faster & more reliable connection.
 
Quite right, by using a dedicated APN, you effectively get a VPN without the VPN clients needed as only your own nodes will be on this network.

Your internet access is then normally via your own connection as (just like mobileallover said) the APN is an extension of your own network.
 
All I can say is, cape town, 8:30, you're not going to get anyone at work, but seriously with the power cuts, you are lucky if you can get to work before 11:00, have since got a reply via email. should get the info soon
