2012 Opel Cosa 1.4 essentia 77000km r98000
Is one making a better investment in getting the tdi polo with good milage or the Corsa with low milage and low price or taking a middle of the road approach with the 1.6 Polo with higher mileage

What trim levels are the Polo's ?

I see you are Mr Pragmatique. I mean investment as in which car would make more sense to buy. Is the difference in price worth going for the cheaper one?

Are you buying cash or financing? Is this for your personal use?
If financing, that R140k Polo is actually about a R155k polo after Warranty (if you take one) and on-the-road fees, licensing etc. So you're looking at R3,500 pm + insurance.

I would go Corsa. The Polo is the number 1 hijacked car in the country. Good reason to steer clear.

And the question of GM moving away from the country. Does that not affect the decision, resale value maybe too low.

I am totally surprised by all your responses, it appears overwhelming that people prefer a Corsa. I really thought it would be a toss up between the two Polo’s especially because of engine soze.

I test drove the Corsa yesterday. After a few minutes on the road, even drove on the highway, I came back and opened the engine and it was extremely hot. Isnt this a concern. Reeds say they did a 71 check on the car and everything is good. But I was worried about that heat
 
Cors.

Polos tend to go missing often, Corsa is the cheapest, with the lowest mileage, so the most obvious choice.
 
Corsa - I have that model, and I am very happy with it. No issues. Maintenance is not too bad either and it's relatively nippy.

Only risk, is the resell value, with all the changes at GM, pulling out their other brands from SA etc.

Hot as compared to what?
 
For that money you could buy a Civic of same model year (maybe slightly higher mileage- or same if you are very lucky), and most likely higher spec, and if you look hard enough, you could have your choice of 1.8 petrol or 2.2 diesel.
