Cape Town - The Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) has urged a speedy resolution to the deepening political and economic crisis in Zimbabwe.
Cosatu has invited Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) leaders to a meeting on Monday to get a full report on events in their country, the federation said in a statement on Wednesday.
Cosatu said: "We are particularly concerned about the skyrocketing inflation, which is estimated to around 10 000%.
"The worst victims are not the ruling elite and their friends, but the ordinary people of Zimbabwe, the workers and the poor in particular, for whom this is a human and socio-economic disaster.
"More and more are now living in abject poverty."
