Ok so the openweb gamer king is R180 on top of your phone & adsl rental which would give you a total of about R493 a month.

While the do Uncapped from Telkom would be R477 with the R35 discount? So if you compared just the isp portion it would be R180 vs R175.

Are there cheaper options without moving the ADSL line to another ISP?

If they work on a debit order only basis then it's out. I would prefer EFT and pay for the month in advance.
The specials are subject to debit order, other accounts you have a choice afaik.

Don't really care either way imo...my bank does wtf whatever I tell them to do.

I haven't used a Telkom account in years, but when I last did their latency to the UK/US was bad, which is obviously an issue if you plan to play games on international servers. When I last played games on a Telkom account the lowest ping I go to international was in the region of 300.

I'm on OW and I get about 180 to EU most of the time. Haven't tested it on US servers.

Gamers King account is TOPS. Especially if you just looking for a after hours account, which still allows some standard web performance for normal protocols in the day. As mentioned it works great for international traffic. :)

Correction the Telkom uncapped actually works out to R165.

Busy ordering now.

Edit: Ok, that was a painless experience. Got my login details via SMS while I was still on the phone with the dude and it worked straight away.

Great, whats your speeds like?

Could you post a few Speedtest results?

I'm on the OW Gamers King 1mb and real happy with performance so far, but seeing some stats/info would be great

thanks

Update: Ranger said the issues should be resolved by today and they are!

Big difference! Looks & behaves normal now!

Ignore the speed values for the small files (<1MB) as they don't give a accurate measure of dl speed.

I don't like Speedtest because it has never given me an accurate indication of what my download speeds are but if you here you go anyway.

http://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/

Local:
Test conducted on 11/5/2013 12:49:15

Download Speed: 856 kbps (107 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 417 kbps (52.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 52 ms

International:
Test conducted on 11/5/2013 12:50:55

Download Speed: 854 kbps (106.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 388 kbps (48.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 246 ms

About the same as my results above in the previous post. So I'm essentially saturating my 1Mb/s link.
