So, at the moment, my eating habits are purely utilitarian.

3 eggs in the morning (with coconut oil and butter).

No lunch.

Supper: Woolworths salad, plus added feta, olive oil and a protein.

This amounts to about R50/R60 bucks per day.

I was wondering, roughly, how much an individual might spend on food per day.

I don't know ... but my guess is that on some days I spend about R150 (that's if I graze on fillet steak) per day and on other days about R30 (if I wolf down 4 eggs and 4 sliced tomatoes with cheese on top). This is per day.

I forgot about my brandy und coke. That's about R30 extra.

Why not buy the salad ingredients? if you are looking to reduce the cost. Would make enough salad to carry for lunch.

God I'd love to have a fillet steak every day. :D

The hassle of storing and preparing, frankly.

And how much can you possibly save? I'm foregoing lunch at the moment (preparing for Ramadan) so not spending there.

And at R23 bucks or so for an awesome salad, it seems a well enough priced option.

I don't have it everyday ... I have it at most once every fortnight.

Woolworths food section ... I buy something there only about once every 3 months or so.

You could add some organic brown rice to your menu. Very filling and delicious to boot especially with butter. As a whole grain it's healthy too, in fact combined with lentils it becomes a complete sustaining meal.

It's so cheap you wouldn't have to skip lunch.

Don't know.

Too much...but I enjoy making & eating good food so to hell with it.

Breakfast:
1x Plain (3)egg omelette
1x Bowl of oats
1x Banana

Lunch / Tea:
2 x Chicken breasts and veg
2 x Peanut butter on low gi sandwiches
2 X Apples
1 x Banana
2 x Evox 100% weigh protein shake

Dinner:
1 x Protein and veg
1 x Handful Brazil nuts

Works out to R80 - R90 per day. OP your Salad sounds super expensive!

Preworkout Powder : R8
70g Oats, Cardamon, Cinnamon, Butter, Milk: R6
Woolworths Naartjie: R3

Dinner Varies: R20p/p home made ~ R50p/p takeaway.

So R69~R99 per day. I'll make some free tea and coffee while I'm at work. :D

That's actually kuk expensive now that I've written it down.

@brom: Curious as to why the protein bar? Those things always strike me as evil expensive for what you get...

Well, it was a portion meant to feed four people.

I could make a salad for a few bucks a pop I'd imagine. Will do that in the future.
