Cost question

Okay,

I need to work out something for a friend, but I might need your guys help as my maths sucks!

My friend has a Hyundai Atos (not sure of what year model, but its a older version) and the 2005 Atos apparently has a fuel capacity of 7,5 litres/100 km so we'll use that as a average model.

*EDIT* She has a 2000 model apparently, but can't seem to find out the stats on that car

Since petrol is what, R8.72± a litre.

She stays in Marina da Gama in Cape Town and if she had to travel to Cape Town Central would be ± 35kms (so, that's 70km ± there and back)

What's the cost from MdG to CPT and then back.

If I work it out correctly it will be approx R45.78

7.5l/100 km x 70% = 5.25l/70km

5.25l x R8.72 = R45.78

No problem.

Just make sure your friend doesn't just put R50 in the tank and expect to make it there and back. The quoted fuel consumption for vehicles is dodgy since most times its calculated in perfect conditions and not on SA roads
