I have a client who has a Lenovo L460 (14" full hd, i5-6300u, 256gb ssd, 8gb ram) on Windows 10 64 bit that is having some issues.

He has mentioned that in particular Adobe Reader DC will freeze and sometimes Google Chrome. After numerous hours of use in Adobe Reader DC (highlighting PDFs and making annotations) he is unable to save and loses his work. He has mentioned he does not save along the way as it asks to use a new name every time. He also mentioned that it sometimes uses over 1GB of RAM.

I have downloaded all the latest firmware and drivers. I've cleaned everything out with CCleaner. I have also run the Lenovo diagnostics among several other applications and found no issues during the tests. I worked on the laptop for a few hours, doing simple tasks and ran into no issues.

I have a solid reputation and offering a full refund because of this issue, even though I do believe it is not related to the hardware. He has an older computer that is doing the same work fine, which leads him to believe it is hardware related.

Does it sound like Adobe Reader DC could be causing this issue or some other software? Thoughts?

Check what was coming with Adobe R*DC on this machine. Adobe have partnered with Intel and it is called either Intel Security or more recently rebranded and bundled with McAffee (or AVG). If I remember correctly the latest version (or update) do not ask users to opt out. Result is disasterous. In the last week I had to clean up two machines from Intel Security (whatever is called) - and I am not in business anymore.

Since Microsoft has developed new API for antivirus software, there is a fight with all who do not comply with new API. New Windows updates destabilize machines, forcing users to uninstall such software. The new API is in purpose of hiding bitcoin mining and other spying activity on user machines. The old API did allow third-party software to discover true Windows internals, it is why is being shut down.

As for Intel Security, it has very poor reputation amoung users anyway, the second on the list is Trusteer Rapport from IBM. Avoid.

With power of your reputation you should advise users downgrading to Windows 7/8, it is supported on Skylake chipset. You will lose reputation if you don't, as matters are getting much worse with so called 'Creators' update.
