STRANGE: between the 20th & 22nd of March 09, 'someone' 'hacked' (or so I think) my work cellphone & dialed numbers to Pakistan (094). The bill amounted to about R700. What could have happened?

My Co. & I cant figure this out? Could my number have been hacked into (for real? How) or the Service Provider (AltecAutoPage) somehow messed this up?

Oh, did I mention that this is a 3G Card number?

I am not responsible for dialing these numbers as I have no friends or business for that matter in Pakistan. Even if (a BIG "IF") I wanted to dial an international number I would have used my cell phone (work) not 3G.

When they showed me the bill, I was gonna approve it as I thought I may have used more DATA than my normal 1Gig per month, but when I saw that the bill is for calls - international calls, I knew something was wrong!

Any ideas, how can I dispute this from my SP (my Co. is cool as they understand that I have never dallied international numbers, they just wanna let it slide, but its hard just to forget about it - surely I could do something to resolve this).

Thanks

Sounds like you weren't really hacked but cloned. ie, the card was cloned. Not sure if this can be done with simm cards . . . but most likely. Check in the Vodacom thread. The guys there know thier stuff. You should get a decent answer there.

Just remembered. There is a homemade contraption you can make to hack wireless connections as well.
