Cound not perform the operation because the default mail client is not properly installed.

The above is the error I get when clicking a mailto link in any email (Outlook Express), FF or IE. When I click the ok button on the error button an IE window appears saying the page could not be loaded.

I'm on Vista. Outlook Express is set as default for all available options under default programs.

This part did the trick:

Click Start, select Default Programs
Click Set program access and computer defaults
Click Custom, and select Windows Mail
Click OK
