When I bought my Xbox I was told these things break often and I was to keep my slips/proof of purchase like GOLD. In fact, it was in the safe awaiting the day I'd need it.

But tragedy struck : I moved and the proof was misplaced :( Do I now sit and await for my new toy to break, and throw it away? :(

I remember this happening to me long ago.
I freaked out, because it was a hard drive and back in the day, a big HDD was expensive.
The place in question made a plan for me, they told me I just need to provide proof I spent the money with them, so I went to FNB and got a statement of paying with my debit card and they accepted it.

Remember, all places generally keep stock numbers / serial numbers of the items they sell and many others keep copies of the invoices / slips.

You just need to find the person there who is willing to go outta the way for you and match the sale to your money spent.

If you paid cash, I'd suggest calling the store NOW already and trying to organise a slip, the date you purchased it, the time ± you bought it, etc, you know... help them to help you.

Also, maybe contact Microsoft XBOX distributor and ask them for info on this.

There is always someone out there to help you, just have to find them / have the will to find them.

You're a whiny little $^%& aren't you? ;)

I already told you all you need it the credit card slip. Thats all I needed to have mine replaced. Besides gdiza is right, you only bought it a little while ago go get a copy of the invoice.

I had to replace mine after 18 months and the credit card slip was all I could find.

Besides, who says you are going to need to replace your box? Mine never got a red ring of death, it was a small problem involving no colour on a normal TV (would have worked on a HDTV had I needed it to).

Stop posting if you aren't gonna put the whole story d@mnit! :D

tim Your post confused me. What's to say that this isn't the whole story?

Either way, Dolby, if you get a copy of the invoice or whatever, get the place to mark it as a copy with a signature and name of the store people and maybe attached a e-mail or some form of communication to it state WHY it's a copy.

Just to be safe... because I can almost see someone saying "sir, why is this a copy, we need the original" and bam, your shyte starts all over again.

Yea thanks gdiza.

timgaul, I don't have the credit card slip either (!) as I said I lost all proof. I'd need to go to the bank & get a copy from them.

Anyway - with over 30% comebacks, can't I rather be safe? :/

Well, you do have the credit card statement. But as I said: you bought it not too long ago - try get a duplicate invoice. Where did you buy it from btw?

Dolby, whatever the issue, get that slip now!
The longer you wait, the more problamatic it is to get it so take a day off and go get it.
At least then, should the Boxy ever break, that stress, worry etc is minimal.

AND LISTEN TO ME!
GO BUY A FILE with SEPERATORS and start KEEPING all invoices, bills, bank statements etc... you have no idea how important it is to keep em, they'll save you money, i promise!

Why doesn't timgaul give useful information like gdiza? ;)

Dolby - you got one recently? With HDMI? Then you shouldn't have issues.

But none the less, better safe then sorry - try get a copy of the invoice if you can. If not, I don't know if it'll work, but maybe print out a copy of you bank statement with the transaction on it.

I replaced mine , no slip, no hassles, went to MI Digital direct and they swopped it. I did have the slip and went to Game and they didn't have stock and lost my slip in the mean time, but I did have a reference number from Microsoft cause I phoned them with the serial number etc like you supposed to... I'm on the third one as the first swopped one the cd player sounded like a blender and this one gave me red lights the other day, but I just switched it off and back on and its working fine but if it goes gaga its back to MI for number 4...I have found very few appliances last long these days, especially with Eskoms lovely weekly shutdowns and power spikes -does wonders for ones gadgets - blown PC (twice), DSTV, made TV go green for 2 days and maybe caused the last Xbox red ring of not death cause its still working, so anyhow this 3 year warranty is magic!

:rolleyes:dude, don't be daft. pointless starting another pc console war, whats the point? the xbox with all its faults is friggen awesome and with the amount of exclusive game titles is definately worth the expense.
I would have to spend double whats it costs to have a pc that wouldnt even play half the games, let alone not have live multiplayer, so dude, silly, just silly, next you going to say something even sillier like get a wii or **choke ** ps3

Silliness, it's all just silliness. And violence. Got to love the violence. And sex, a little always helps too . . . .
