Anyone else that agrees games where you don't respawn and become a spectator is lame?

I played it once or twice, its nowhere near as much fun as UT.

Depends on your person, to be honest. It can be frustrating when you suck and you spend 95% of your time waiting for the next round. Just stop sucking at the game and it won't be such a problem. It's really not such a hard game to get decent at. The only people who generally tend to die and sit out the majority if the match are those who don't understand that you shouldn't be approaching the game as a fast-paced shooter.

CS:GO is already a lot more accessible than CS:S ever was. The skill gap is no longer as high as it used to be, like in CS:S where new players were deterred because it was almost impossible to play against the veterans.

I spend most of my time playing deathmatch servers anyway, nowadays.

Counter Strike Source was much better for me than UT ever was. There you really try not to die lol. Its not just about running around blasting everything in sight.

AWPers do suck though and the best servers were those without them...

CS was a legendary game. Recently realised there are still people playing the original CS and I've been getting a few games in.

As long as you spend a little time getting decent at it you don't spend all that much time dead. The game is far more about whittling the opposing team down than it is about rushing in headlong and firing at anything that moves. By far my favourite multiplayer FPS ever.

The APWers are annoying though yes. Some of them are so good it should be illegal. :p

Meh while I usually don't die early and most rounds score at least a kill or 2, if I die early I take it as an opportunity to watch and learn from those that are more skilled than I am. Pick up a few tricks.

I always found the fast-paced shooters like UT to be quite boring. To each their own I suppose.

The only part of CS I find annoying are those bloody AWP users. Oh and where the experienced players all smoke each other and you have to spend the last minute or so watching unskilled players try to kill each other. That is like watching special needs children fumble for a doorknob in the dark.

+1

As PorchRat says, if you treat CS like a rambo-type FPS and rush in guns blazing you'll probably die. It's a slower game and rewards those who pick their battles wisely.

The physics of CS are simple and predictable, something that I prefer over other FPS games.

Waiting for the round to end is part of the game design unfortunately; when I die I always switch to the person who killed me, or to the best current player and I see if I can learn anything.

See there in lies the problem, I want to play a multiplayer FPS, not sit around and read a good novel while I am playing a game of chess.

CS is for wannabes. Load up ARMA

It is a multiplayer FPS. Just a slower and more strategic one than UT.

If one has the attention span of a 5 year old or perhaps ADHD or no desire whatsoever to learn from those of superior skill then yes I understand why waiting a minute or less for the next round to start might feel like an eternity. I don't consider having such a short attention span to be a good thing though.

Then I don't see the problem. You've got Call of Duty and Battlefield that are both military FPS games that offer the option of respawning immediately after dying. Play those then.
