*** game takes over from 1.6, all the people that couldn't play 1.6 suddenly became kings (and all these people were 13 y/o) which creates a community filled with children swearing at each other because fighting on the internet is cool!
i want the old days back :(
 
CSS you can buy from steam like alot of other guys said...I think i saw it in BT games once or twice tho! There is still alot of CSS players online and you just need to know where to look for the servers! ;) L4D is a great game...only problem is if you want to play online then you might be disappointed as it basically died over night...only about 10 players online playing that every night...CSS is different, servers are full at night...rather buy CSS now and then wait for L4D2...that might boost the L4D community again!
 
I played cs from 1.2 till 1.6 and i currently play CSS. The community isnt as bad as its made out to be.

Sure there are some bad apples that make it unpleasant but show me a game that doesnt have people like that. Only problem i have with CSS atm is that if you want to play Free for all, there is only one map that is played. The only time you play other maps is during clan matches.
 
What is the ping lke on the Steam servers? Is there perhaps a SA server that one can play outside Steam?

Did anyone mention all the groans about people cheating with anti-flash hacks, aim hacks and other unmentionables. The admin do nothing (in fact some of them are chief suspects) and Steam does little.

The admins are also badly behaved, messing about with gravity, people's names, winding people up and other tricks. Sometimes we think they are chosen specifically for this.

The ping can vary quite a lot. They don't spend much on the servers and some days they just don't perform (crashes and stutters). They don't get beyond 60 tiks ATM. Most, if not all, are based overseas (UK).
