Countries seek common approach to 5G network safety

Security officials from 30 countries hammered out a common approach to wireless network safety on Friday, responding to concerns over equipment made by China’s Huawei Technologies Co.

The non-binding proposal warns governments against relying on suppliers of fifth-generation networks that could be susceptible to state influence or based in countries that haven’t signed international agreements on cyber security and data protection.

I completely agree on this one.

There should be lots of warning about relying on suppliers of equipment susceptible to state influence.
Starting with the obvious one - the US, who have provable been caught multiple times monitoring other states communications, and / or modifying equipment to be compromised.

Its almost like Five Eye's don't want countries to use Huawei, because they _don't_ have a backdoor in Huawei's equipment for monitoring.
