If a statue is the basis for your knowledge of history you clearly weren't very knowledgeable about it in the first place.
I guess now that Don has schit his pants and shown his true cowardly colours, the previously outspoken blinded zealots are going to fade away quicker than the AWB after Bop.
But there are still plenty of hillbillies dotted about Twitter and social media too dim to notice that Don is a selfish narcissist who would run you down in his limo to get to KFC and think he is still chosen by God.
Funny thing is, a certain type of South African think he is also the messiah and for some reason defend the idiot like he has some kind of plan to deal with the EFF and somehow stop EWC. But then I guess these thinly disguised racists have never been the brightest bunch.

Things like history books, museums, libraries... You know, all the places that record history that still exist after people destroy statues and supposedly "rewrite history".

Statues being destroyed --> rewriting history is a common refrain from certain people here, if that is not what you where inferring then I apologise.

A point you seem to be missing in all the bickering. Once all the supposedly offensive statues are gone the supposedly offensive books are next, in fact they are already gearing up for it with isolated mass book burnings, some of which reach the news some of which don't. The slippery slope is real.

It is to be noted that there was immense pressure from ANC for Zuma to resign. Republican party is still siding with the terror instigator-in-chief with probably 2 exceptions.
p.s. It took a while for ANC to do this of course.

yes and whether we like it or not, zuma did fight against apartheid at one point of time. Trump never fought for anything except his own interests.

That's not accurate. Attempts were made to defend it.
I have seen footage of the now deceased officer being dragged out and beaten. He along with his colleagues were defending a doorway. Multiple other videos of security trying to hold a line at the staircases leading up to Capitol Hill.
This all comes down to not being prepared and overwhelmed. Weak outer perimeter left security in a bad position. These videos show you how unprepared the ''defences'' were.
The first video shows how weak the outer line was. Perhaps they were anticipating a smaller, peaceful crowd.
Then by the time they got near the actual building they were increasingly overwhelmed as the mob grew bigger and more intense. Attempts to hastily establish a line failed. Note how many of the security personnel that dealt with the initial wave lacked the protective gear necessary to hold a line, so of course they would give ground.
I have also seen the videos of a group peacefully entering through an opened door, set against the backdrop of what I have just linked above. Could it perhaps be that they were efforts to try and diffuse the situation as security realised they were outmatched?
Of course some serious questions need to be asked about the preparedness and actions of some security personnel, but I wouldn't immediately jump to something sinister.
