For those that may not know,* Coursera is a collection of online courses offered by, endorsed and certfied by a myriad of international universities like Harvard, MIT, Stanford etc

They're not free and the one I'm looking at is $248 for a few months. I do believe these are recognised internationally - but how are they locally?*

Would local employees look at these,* or better to do UNISA small course?

I've done many free Coursera courses and they have impressed people in interviews both locally and with a large international social media company. Go for it. Also look at Edx.

But if you are opening your wallet, go UNISA for a degree, not a short course.

I would not waste my money on short courses unless its relevant to your industry and a certificate is required.

They are good for learning but are not worth too much, even the paid certificate. Worth doing but I'm not sure its worth spending $250 on when you can find most of the info online for free. I've formed that opinion from researching and a friend who has done a few courses. I've not done one myself so take it with a pinch of salt.
