Hi all,

Car has been at dealership for a week now and will possibly be there for another 3.
They don't seem to chuffed to give me a courtesy car and wanted some advice into pushing this further without being a d!ck about the whole thing.

Thoughts? Have a meeting with the service manager tomorrow and I'd like to speak to him about this matter.

Yeah, in my experience courtesy cars are like hen's teeth. I've gotten one ONCE from my dealership when they couldn't repair an issue on my car and it was the third time I had to bring it back, and another time I got one from a panelbeater while they needed to keep my car for an extra day. But that's it ... the rest has been car rentals which I've got included in my car insurance (I highly recommend ticking that option box - saves you stacks!) after car accidents.

What brand?

Sounds quite poor if it's under warranty and taking this long.

A day or two sure, but not weeks.

Pretty sure insurance won't cover a rental for such but I'll ask them tomorrow. Thanks

Why do you think you are entitled to a loan car.
Was the car new when you bought it.
When you buy a tv and it breaks it goes in for repair .
You dont get a loan tv

People often buy a car so they can do their business, not quite the same thing

And people buy a computer to do their business.
They dont get a loan computer either

If you buy car for business, surely you have to plan for an event where you might not have a car?

Dealerships usually have one or two. If they are in use, then I don't see how a dealership should have a loan/courtesy car (of a couple of them) for every customer that needs one.

Be a dick about it..

They have your car for 3 weeks and its a warranty issue, they should provide you with alternate transport.

Actually you do get a loan TV or a full replacement if the repair can't be done in your house in a timely manner.

Just saying...

Under warranty I expect a working vehicle. Especially this kind of product that directly affects your livelyhood.

Case in point, I had a loan bike for almost three months with a recent issue with my own.

Audi gave me an A6 when they did a repair on mine. I expect a car when they need to keep mine for longer than standard one day service.

yeah its one thing if its just a day or two, but if its an expended period that is their issue and should provide one.

Kia has been quite good to me. Even gave me a courtesy vehicle to use as my new car was a week late to arrive and again provided a courtesy car while it was in for a minor warranty repair.

Yup same story with BMW when my VW I bought from them second hand had an issue.

You don't pay extra for warranty on a TV, also if you get a computer from Dell you get their next day business warranty. But it's fine you can be that 'guy'.

OP,

you're gonna hate this...

Is your toyota on the lower or higher end of the scale.

Nowadays more and more dealers reserve their loan cars for those that drive the more expensive ones. You'll probably get a car if you make a stink about it.

If my car goes in and they know it will be more than a day, I leave with one of their loan cars, part of how the manufacturer stipulates it, but sometimes dealers make their own branch rules.

My car was at Hyundai for the entire month of April.
They told me at first that all their courtesy cars are in use and I wasn't really bothered since I had already arranged a loan car.
After week 2 though, I told them I cannot continue borrowing a vehicle, had to return it and that they just had to make a plan and they did.
