Can anyone (v3G?) explain this??

Vodacom is spending millions on 3G rollout. They are also spending millions on marketing their new baby, but they cant have a semi up to date coverage map.

Anyone with any tech savvy considering 3G will amble over to the vodacom web site to check on coverage. If you look at Kzn you will find a small patch of coverage in Durbans cbd. Personally i went through this process a few weeks ago. Seeing no 3G coverage in westville and sick of paying telkom i had fully decided to get a "cheap" phone on the weekender to act as a gprs modem and look at 3G again in 6 months when i am due for an upgrade on my existing contract. Luckily for me vodashop in the pavillion convinced me to go for the SE v800 since it was on special at R99 on the weekender. On getting home i find decent 3G coverage and on driving around find a 3g network far more extensive than i had imagined.

For anyone that is interested their is 3g coverage in Westville / Pinetown / Kloof / Maritzburg / dbn airport (and probably a whole lot more areas but that where i have been in the last week).

While i understand the network is obviously growing very fast and a fully up to date map would not be possible, surely a semi up to date map and a list of recent / imminent basestation upgrades would be not too difficult to arrange?

I am going to post all Live 3G sites that are in KZN soon.If you cannot wait pm me your email address.I will send the HUGE LIST.........Even the South Coast of KZN has some 3G coverage.

Unfortunately a list of 3G towers will not give a very accurate map of 3G coverage as many factors impact coverage, including geography and breathing cells.

The new map, still under construction, take these factor into account.

Talk about under promising and over delivering..... With the 3G coverage map Vodacom seem to have taken it to the extreme..
