Okay so I seem to have fallen victim to the dreaded coverage map changes.

From 3Mbit to 300kbps in a few weeks.

I mean seriously what the F&^%! How can you DOWNGRADE my coverage ?

When I look on the map now, I'm actually in 'Not Covered'.
I was told on the phone all the techs were busy today so they'd likely get to me Monday / Wednesday'ish.

Right whatever. Surely this is illegal in some way? Or should be reported to ICASA ?

I phoned them and told them if there wasn't a techie at my house TODAY to RESTORE my service I would return everything, lodge a complaint with ICASA and wherever else I could, and working in advertising myself, poke a hole in every campaign I could with the ASA.

Needless to say, there is a techie on the way right now.

If it doesn't get resolved. I'm not really into discussions with them while I pay for what I had. Will do exactly what I promised.

End Rant.

Same problem here man - left about a million messages for the big dogs to phone me back and explain why i am not out of coverage and why i dont have internet access anymore. Been trying for a month now to get ONE answer.

On Monday my team of lawyers are handing in the court documents and Neotel should be served by the latest wednesday. They are also lodging a complaint with ICASA.

I will not let Neotel do what Telkom did to us/has been doing to us, South Africans. Enough is enough.

The technician has just been out to my house.

Confirmed I am no longer covered. Getting spillage signal. He was getting speeds of 512k, this will drop below 400k tonight no doubt.

According to him the Radio Planning Team will sometimes *move* signal coverage to cover more users.

How about adding more coverage instead of shifting it around.

This seems to be happening a lot. Won't take it lying down.

I will also lodge a complaint with ICASA and pursue other avenues even if I get refunded.

^^i cant understand it myself.

Please do lodge a complaint with ICASA - the more the better.

Coverage has definately changed!

I'd been experience poor performance all week (+/- 300kbps).... just had a VERY long change with TS... and they recommend I repointed my Yagi... which I've just done... BINGO! +/- 1800kbps... Hopefully it will last :(

Before I cancelled, I was promised a report, and info on why my signal changed..

its now 2 months after I cancelled.... NOTHING,

Cancelling was the best thing I ever did, the worst thing was joining in the 1st place.

I guess all new contracts need to have an additional clause added where it indicates the coverage "at the time of signing" . I mean if i signed a 2 year contract based on having coverage and a month later they change it, surely one must be able to make the contract null and void?

Nowhere on the online coverage map site could I see *Subject to change without notice*

I'll have a look through my contract tomorrow, but I think it goes without saying, that if they no longer provide coverage, the contract becomes null and void, furthermore, time without service should not be charged for, and if it has been, refunded.

I'll see what Monday brings. I doubt anything will change, I'm not gonna hang around until I *maybe* get coverage again.

Think it's fair to say, if you have coverage now, you might not have tomorrow.

What kind of a way to run a Telco is this ? Not even a warning. "Dear Sir we're unable to provide coverage for you anymore"

They just yank it out from under you, and then leave you to figure out what's happened, with countless frustrating calls.

Never in my life have I experienced bad service to this degree.

They have no concept of *brand promise* and I've pretty much reached the point where I'm in two minds that even if service is restored, to actually keep it.

How'd the whole cancellation go? Did you get a refund etc.?

And how long did you have service for before it was *moved* ?

Also the people I've spoken to at Neotel seem to be unaware of this as standard practice and *seem* to find it quite odd.

RIGHT.

Answers to your questions.

1. Cancellation was an issue, but resolved.
2. No Refund, 3 Tech's came to my place, Signal 10% of the original.
3. Signal was ok for 1st month, and then degraded 30% per week there after.
4. Nobody admitted the fact that the signal changes, however multiple people have experienced the same issue.
5. Check my threads against my ID, Should get alot of info from that.

Average speeds tonight after 12.

1.65mbit

Max after a handful of tests.

2Mbit

I AM REALLY CONFUSED.

Technician all you have now is spillage signal. I bet in the morning it will be back to the usual 300kbps.

Clearly I have some signal now. Doubt they gave me my signal back ?

All very suspicious. Could be bandwidth issues too.

I moved my router about half a metre from where it was. It's a lower position but right near a window on my second floor.

My connection seems to be back to it's old self today even though I'm still shown as no coverage.

I'm not holding my breath that it will stay like this, let's see what Neotel say tomorrow.

Could my complaining actually have worked ?

3.32mbps

3.04mbps

Those were some of the peaks and this is my average speed more or less.

2.62mbps

For how long I wonder...
