cpanel. how to use ssh?

I'm trying out customized email addresses for the first time. So I got a free domain from afrihost, I then took the bronze package (R9/m).

I've already setup the mail and the ftp and stuff is fine, but the only thing I don't understand so far is the ssh. How do I ssh into my server? Nowhere in cpanel do I see an option to change the ssh port so I don't even know what it is.

I've tried port 22 on putty but the connection just times out. There is an option in cpanel to manage my ssh keys so I assume that the server supports ssh.

Please help oh wise peoples

PS: I do know how ssh works as I've previously setup ssh on my home pc. I just can't seem to access it on my new server. I've also tried downloading my private key and putting it into putty but I still get 'connection time out'.

Are you sure you can ssh to it?
From what i understand (it looks like you are using afrihost) and you dont get ssh access to the hosting box.

You will need to e - mail their support and ask if they can allow you access and if they run the service on any specific port.
