cpu 4 pin

hi there just a quick question

my cousin just bought a new case which is bottom mounted now the 4pin cpu connector is too short so i thought i'd just get a 4pin cpu extender male to female boy did that just cause me trouble none of the shops ive been to stock them so i thought would a 4pin to 2 molex work in the mobo??

any help would be apreciated

hmmm, will the molex connector survive? If so, do it and see what happens! :D
 
I don't think the molex will work, the molex is rated at 5V while the 4 pin CPU requires 12V?

Got a broken PSU lying around?
Any good with a soldering iron?

Just cut one off a damaged PSU with enough length of wire on it to be able to reach.
Cut the plug off the working PSU, solder the original on and you are set. (heat shrink tubing for a more pro look).
 
me and soldering is a no go :) possibly a usefull trait to learn in the future!but i finally found a male to female 4pin extender so its sorted thanks guys

The soldering isn't absolutely necessary... Just twist the wires together, and insulation tape the exposed wires... Doesn't look pretty, but will work. However, soldering will allow more current to flow safely.
