CPU advice please

Juggs atleast though your not an amd fanboi buying really poor cpu's, your buying the good shyte not that other rubbish they had :p.

Nothing worse than people who buy products that are far inferior because of the company. AMD have made a huge comeback and maybe just maybe they will release an intel killer in the months ahead :).

Best budget cooler I know of is the CM Hyper TX2. It's about R280.

I have that cooler but I only have the Intel mounts:(

Anyone want to swap?

Also have 4x2GB Transcend with Vizo aluminium heat spreadders I want to swap for 2x2GB 1066 dominators;)

Also waiting for my 2nd 8800GT which should come at month end.

Lucky it was my choice then;) I was an AMD fanboi and it's time to go back.

Was getting bored besides a change is as good as a holiday they say. I did have it at 3.1 for a short while.

The multiplier on the Q9300 is 7.5 as far as I remember.

You're right, 7.5x..

Well, I'm not a fanboi of anything since it's totally illogical in every sense of the word. But if it pleases you more power to ya.

All I'm saying is that before spending more money on a lesser performing chip, perhaps it would have been wise to try then a 450x7.5=3375, even 440x7.5=3300.

Yep, the CM Hyper TX 2 and the AC Freezer 7 Pro are the best budget coolers. Make sure you get the newer CM version with the pwm fan, or install 120mm.

The q9300 clocks easily to 3.3ghz i have it running like for a long time. It hits a brick wall at anything over 3.5ghz i heard.

Thanks for the advice, my main reason for buggering around was actually brought on by the features vs price of the Crosshair II board.

Of the 2 coolers which is best?

Anyone want to take this TX2 Intel only mounts cooler off my hands... Gratis? Cape Town only

The CM has a smaller heatsink, so I would go for the AC and install a 120mm and you would then have a REALLY decent budget cooler..

You'll need it cos the temp on PhenomII's scale much more directly with the clock, that is if you're planning on a decent OC..

lol

ya man it will come in handy cos i got the e6550 without a stock fan

;-)

Thanks again, can't seem to find the cooler on the net though:(

What about the CM Gemini 2?

Another question, how does it work? The more heatpipes and bigger fan size the better the cooler?

dont get the gemini2, it throws hot air all around the case.

Rather get a coolermaster Hyper Z600 and mount 1 or 2 120mm fans on it, or if you have the money, get the TRUE
