Hello, i have a problem (with birds):(... After deciding that i will be getting a new Asus hd4890:) and psu i then see on a forum that my Amd 6000+ will cause a bottleneck:( and i therefore have to upgrade:eek:. I want a moderately cheap cpu to fit in my Asus m2n sli-deluxe mobo. I have started looking at the: Phenom II 550, Athlon II x4 630 and 620.I would like to know if my current cpu will actually cause a major bottleneck:( like it will stop me playing crysis:eek: on high/very high at 1440x900 and what is the best out of the three aforementioned cpus:D. Also i hate being limited to 8 smileys...

It won't cause a bottleneck as such but your performance may not be as good as better cpu. Bottleneck yes but it is not like it bottleneck to the point of crysis not running :D

How much you got for a cpu? You 6000+ and 4890 will run crysis but not as well as a phenom 2 x4 would.

What kinda speeds would i get in crysis with my current cpu though will it be 60fps or more?

Hmm maybe on high but not on very high , try look at a phII 720 tri-core its great for gaming !

Depending on what res u play it will differ alot.

I have AMD Phenom II 955 @ 3.7ghz
XFX 4890 950/1050 core /mem
2x2gb XMS3 ddr3 ram

Running crysis:warhead (not sure if its as power hungry as original)
1920x1080 all settings on Enthusiast no anti-alias getting 28-32 ave fps, drops when i enter ice part with flames and stutters during mas fights and big explosions.

So i dropped settings to Gamer and running 45+ ave all the way now XD

So u will be able to play game prolly 1600x1200 on Gamer if im not mistaken, which i prolly am lol but anything above 1280x1024 on gamer will look sweet.

SLI mobo and an ATI card? I might be wrong here, but doesn't SLI only work for nvidia cards, which in that case might want to rather get the gtx260. AT least then you can add another one when you want to upgrade

Thing is that most people never add the second card in their rig

Theres also nothing wrong with running an ATi card in an nVidia chipset mobo or vice versa afaik, i run an nVidia card on a board that has a chipset that supports crossfire and i've got no problems

the GTX260 216 is also equivalent to the 4870, so he would be better off with the 4890

Dude test it before upgrading your cpu. Remember crysis is a gpu killer unlike any other game i have seen.

got 19 inch playing 1440x900 will that be ok for very high?

Will a 550BE and a 4870 1gig be better than the 6000+ and the 4890 1gig?

On that motherboard I shake my head. Rather use what you got as is then upgrade both board and CPU when you can. That Graphics card is like adding a turbo to a 1.2 engine and then adding a free flow exhaust. The chassis will not handle nor will your brakes etc. You will never experience what the turbo can do on a larger block.

Get a board that does that graphics card Justice.

Sure but then the mobo was a waste of money

4 cores are overkill.

A fast dual core will be good enough.

what is the price differential between your strategy and a quad core? are you not saying he must spend on something that is at the end of its line when the next technology is not too far way?

i don't know what the numbers look like. just asking.

i disagree, games are moving towards supporting quad core and there are a number of apps out there that make use of multiple cores already, if he is upgrading his cpu he should go quad

anyway, that's just my opinion

:-) mine to

Do you think i should split my money and go for a 550BE and 4870 or i should just buy a 4890 with my current cpu (amd 6000+)
