hi guys,

my CPU fan has stopped working. all it does is jitters and shakes a lil, but nothing more. this is the fan on the intel pentium 3 processor. and coz of this, (i think its coz of this) the computer is not turning on. it was working perfectly fine till now. i dunno how to take the processor and fan assembly apart, but even if i do, will that help?

You can get lots of replacement fans at computer shops.

Ask them if they can replace it for you if you don't know how.

if it is a socket370 cpu, then the fan will be easy to replace.

if, however, the cpu is a slot1 variant, then you will battle (the slot 1 variants and big and black and long and you will know what i mean when yous ee it)

no fellas, you got all your answers wrong...hehe.

the fan was okay, i took it apart and fitted it onto another one and it worked fine. i guess it was some prob with the mobo.
so i removed everythin(cpu, ram and cmos), like beanie said, rinsed and repeated. and voila, its workin now and the computer started too. hope it all lasts till theres time to buy another.

Now the problem is that its stuck at the welcome screen on xp. now what do i do? lol
cant rinse and repeat xp from scratch now....takes way too long. i'm thinkin i'll wait it out and see
