Hi guys, need abit of advise please if u may.
my pc has been shutting down for the last 2 days, today and was yesterday.
The thing is it was due to overheating, my cpu was realy HOT.

Now i can barely use my pc in this heat, guess that was the problem anyway.
My tempretures were between 80-90 celsius , yes i know thats realy hot.
I received abit thermal paste but stil HIGH levels.

Guys ive been thinking i need to buy myslef a heatsink and fan, using a stock one@this moment, now here i am needing advice please.
I have an intel q6600 quad core socket 775

thank you in advance....

1) Turn caps lock off when typing
2) Its spelled "advice" with a "c." Yes there are others but that one irritates me the most :p
3) Cogage True Spirit will sort you out. Performs really well and is the best bang for buck you'll be able to find

If you are not overclocking cpu & fan is spinning, you should not need a new hsf. Have you checked if cpu voltages in BIOS & within spec? Is the hsf mounted securely on cpu(try monitoring cpu temperature while carefully pressing down on hsf to verify)?

A bit more pricey - but brilliant - Thermaltake Frio if you need one, but it should not be running at 80-90!!

+1 for the Cogage True spirit. I assume you stay in CPT. ;)
The CM Hyper TX2 / 212+ are pretty good as well and is a bit less expensive. It all depends on which one you can get your hands on.

Also make sure that you have cleaned out your case and that there is sufficient airflow through your case, otherwise it won't help much to buy a decent heatsink and fan.

Please note that the Intel stock coolers' pins have arrows that point in the direction that you make the heatsink loose and NOT in the direction that you tighten it!!
The application of the thermal paste is also VERY important. You have to apply a very small amount of thermal paste on the CPU and then you can use the heatsink to spread it out by simply pressing down hard on it, so that it would make a very thin layer of it without air bubbles.

thanks guys.....nope its stock standard....not the one that would overclock lol!....i prefer to keep my components to last there full length.....
seems you might be correct on cleaning abit....do see some dust lol....and yes living in the mother city...hot in here....lol....
Are there any good zalman for bang/buck?

Nope i have not....i dont risk my pc components like that...my motherboard is old though(intel dg33bu)....but i jus recently (a few months ago) upgraded my cpu....so i know i need to upgrade my motherboard(my bro says that is keeping my system behind) and im needing another stick of ram....my 2gigs not running at optimised speeds because of my two 512's kingston.....
Im trying to bring down my voltage...but...if im too long in my pc just shuts down...eish...

Well i think before you go crazy.

1. what box do you have? Does it shut down when it's cooler?
2. is it a dust free box?
3. put a 3 speed desk fan by it and see if it helps.
4. run it with the side cover off, obviously the side opposite the cpu :D.
The stock fan in general won't overheat your cpu so just make sure the box is not overheating before you spend money.

1. i hav a raidmax dirk-tooth
2. well...1 can say so that it is lol....
3. i have done that and temps are still rising...
4. yes i have....lol...
box is still cool....and right now...my room is so cold...but my temps are running at 77....earlier on..a buddy saw it gone to 97....

i have been looking around for heatsink and fan....and most of the retail stores dont have stock...eish.....i wana do gaming so bad....lol....
