What revision is the CPU you have? B1 is compatible and try run the same Bios Ver as the link gives for that Revision.

On AMD there is huge difference between Revision numbers and it took me weeks to get a CPU that would work on a specific MB.

Also there was conflict on that setup with the Tri channel ram if I remember correctly. need to look it up again. but you could get some gains out there too.

Hi thanks for reply not sure what revision CPU is but have attached a pic

The BIOS is bad as per the checksum failure in the message. re-download the bios and write it to floppy, cd, or usb as per instructions and boot with it inserted. If that fails step back one version.

Hi I did that and it said restart when done but gave the same message again, I only went back as far as version 1208 maybe I should go back more...?and I'm sure CPU is fine otherwise I would not have been able to flash bios ..

Do you still have your old cpu?
Correct you won't be able to flash the bios without a working cpu.
Really sounds like the problem is with the bios.

Yes still have the old CPU ,my board has two bios chips that I can switch in between and it does the same on both

+1. As for BIOS matching CPU, look for SLBUZ compatible version. There are other numbers and power plant (COSTA RICA) which might be important too.
