I have to replace these components and it came down to the below choices:

CPU: Intel i5-661 - R1 940
MB: Intel H55 Hunter Cove - R920
RAM: Samsung DDR310600 2 x 2GB - R650

Total R3 510

Is there any weak link in this chain or anything I can take something different for relatively small price to enhance it?

I am willing to go to R4k just over R4k

Would help if you gave us the prices so we don't have to go look it up and how much you consider a "relatively small price to enhance it".

For the same price you could probably get a new Sandy Bridge system which would be the way to go.

OK, edited first post

i5 760
asus mobo, any p55( keep mobo if wont overclock)

same ram

the i5 750 has 2 more real cores :) and cheaper

Then why choose the i5-661 and MB with onboard graphics support?

When you look at the prices, performance increases and even the power consumption then Sandy Bridge seems the only way to go.

Because I didn't know any better

I am very out of touch with pc developments. The Sandy bridge does however look very good

Keeping with prophecy, this is what I have:

Intel SandyBridge LGA1155 i5-2500K Quad Core, 3.3GHz, Turbo OC CP
Corsair XMS3 TW3X4G1333C9DHXG 2x2GB DDR3-1333 1.6v CL9
Intel P67DE DEer flat Retail pack ; LGA1155 mb ; intel P67

That Intel board looks a bit dull. The basic Asus P8 series might be more interesting for only a little more.

Remember also that you can't use Onboard graphics with any P67 - only with H67 boards.
