CPU prices plummet

Why didn't they drop the phenom I price!!! geez!

Now, the question is, when are we going to see these price drops in SA?

I'm on it, but so far, local distributors are acting like this is the first they have heard of the price cuts.

*hopefully* they will clear out current stock and as soon as new stock starts coming in we will see some lower prices

But the thing is, no one is going to buy now, cause they are going to wait for the price reductions... :(

The thing with local retailers is that they think the public is ignorant as to what is going on with the price drops. They will keep it as high as possible for as long as possible to try and squeeze out as much profit in that time as they can.

Off topic - Last year when Microsoft announced and duly dropped the price of the xbox, I was in the market to buy. Long story short, after going to 7 retailers and phoning 3 help desks to find out why the price wasn't dropped, I went to Incredible Corruptions and made it quite clear that I would not be leaving their shop without my price adjusted xbox. In the end I won the fight and got a better deal than I imagined as I got the 360 Pro with the Halo 3 game for the same price as the pro on its own.

Moral of the story, just give them a piece of your mind and insist on paying what Intel or AMD recommend. They can be a little difficult about it, but at the end of the day, they have to adhere to the guidelines...

Just my 2c

Alot of SA is ignorant though:)

I wouldn't hold my breath for the new prices, companies in SA have proven time and again how they increase the price because of something yet when that something is revered they don't decrease prices.

No they don't.

They don't have to yes, but I kinda like to nag until they do:rolleyes:

Hey I'm totally behind you, as I customer/client/consumer I don't take crap either. Though unfortunately they can charge what they want, and will as long as people are paying for it.

From what I read PhenomII will work fine even on older AM2 (non +) boards.
Else it is a good excuse to get the AMD 790GX chipset also :p
