CPU prices plummet

anyone want to bet that the excuse for not dropping the prices is because they bought all their existing stock at the previous prices and still need to make up the money for that.

So wait two days and then phone to find out they have no stock left, and are waiting for new stock again, yet the price remains the same. The fact that most of them work on consignment stock as well does not make me understand how they lie to us and we all fall for it

That is the most commonly used excuse. But as with the xbox, I kinda told them I don't really care as the prices are supposed to be adjusted. I mean honestly, do you mean to tell me after they were informed and I phoned, 3 weeks had pasted already. Musica blatantly told me they were not going to do it, Incredible advised me to speak to the branch manager which I did and he was the one that saw it from my point of view and fixed the price for me.

Most people just believe the garbage they get fed but I like a good fight now and again. We are the consumer/customer keeping these businesses going. If they don't want to flop and want to keep customers, they will make it work.

40% drop on the Q9650 would be right up my alley since I'm going to be doing a massive upgrade soon enough which will basically be a whole new PC since I haven't bought one in over 5 years.

But nothing on the amd side nay :(

I don't think it's worth it for the average user or for a gamer. Unless you're using specialised applications that thrive on more CPU cores it's a waist of money. Currently there's dual core CPUs costing about R1600+ that compete with a Q6600 costing about R2700+ (prices on the sites I've checked recently) in games.

So unless you're doing something that's going to really take advantage of all the cores (probably video and work related) it's a waist of money. Besides if you can blow R3000+ for a CPU, you may as well go with the newer i7's on a new platform as it will have a longer lifespan.

When the prices increase the very next day the retailers have increased their prices. When it drops they "first have to clear out old stock"

I understand when it increases, make the price change immediate because they have to replace the bought item at the higher price, but when it decreases should the same argument not hold.

When you're talking about the latest price drops in PC hardware so is 90%+ of every country, it's no reason not to drop the prices.

But getting incredible connection (who work on high margins anyway) to drop the price (edit) is far easier than getting a supplier or online shop to do the same. The person you're dealing with simply can't drop the price themselves in most cases.

Prices has been dropped

Was looking at pricelist of a certain distrubtor and orderd a Core 2 Duo saved +-R200

Also yesterday there was an article on Finance24 about SA wanna increase V.A.T

How can you say Q9550 would be waisting my money? Im surely securing myself for whatever applications and games are coming in the future right? hmmmm
If im truely waisting my money, then wtf is the point in trying to keep up? :/
