CPU spiking after Win 10 installed

After I installed Win 10 64bit (in place upgrade on Win 7 64) I get random max CPU useage spikes, with the accompanying sound card crackle and slightly glitchy system, virtually never once got that on Win 7.
I have a i5 quad core 2500 3.3ghz 8GB ram and this happens when I'm not doing anything taxing, I can even not be using the computer, I can be somewhere else in the room, and I can hear the sound card crackle in the background and then if I come and check the task manager there's been a CPU spike.

There was also RAM useage issues by the system process, when I turned off the page file that seemed to sort that out though, still quite high though.

Anyone know how to sort this out, its getting on my tits :D
 
Sounds like a sound card driver issue. See if you can find new Windows 10 drivers for your specific card. If not maybe try change which generic driver it uses. Windows 10 has some weird bugs, yesterday after an update all my keys on keyboard remapped until I unplugged and replugged it in...

Could be that, can't find an updated driver and windows doesn't auto install a generic driver when plugging it in, it's a usb soundcard. So I'm screwed!

If it is that why would that driver cause cpu spikes though?

Could you check what is causing that CPU spike?
Open task manager > more details > click on the CPU tab.

Also thought I could do that but unless I'm looking at the task manger at the very moment the spike happens how will I know what process is causing the spike?

I tried to find a problem (which is present on 30% of my installations). It looks like Windows is doing constant monitoring. Probably this monitoring interfere with devices as well. Waiting for a major release to resolve these problems.
 
Anyone else have similar issues with Windows 10, possible solutions?
 
Will moving from 8gb to 16gb of ram help?
 
Had similar issues after my install and traced them to Windows search/ indexing. Deactivated the service then after a few days it downloaded patches and now windows search works without the CPU spike

Search on mine is still useless, I've reduced the index to just the start menu and control panel and it still takes about 15 sec to give search results there.
 
Which motherboard are you using? I had this problem with Gigabyte & sorted it out by turning off the network monitoring
 
I know it is not relevant. Due to my lack of knowledge and all the Windows 10 problems I had. I went back to Windows 7. will give Win10 a look at in 12 months or so.

Hp, it'd one of those Hp mini towers.
Was network monitoring a gigabyte app? It seems network devices can cause these glitches

I did try disabling my pci wifi card but that didn't help, the on board lan I haven't tried that
 
It was the gigabit lan utility & driver. Can't remember the name of the software, but it wasn't gigabyte
