CPU Thermal Paste

Yeah - I'm hoping some paste and a good air-spray will sort that out. Can't actually do any work right now until I get that paste.

As for buying thermal paste, your average Gizmo retailer wont stock that. Find any PC shop they will help. Esquire (just need a mybb account with them), Matrix PC Warehouse...

Most pc shops should stock it.
Do you have an Esquire account?
They will probably will have some.

Electrical/electronic shops might also sell the Unick brand.
I prefer using the Silver Artic, but have used the white Unick as well and have never had come backs on it due too overheating.

Thanks. I've ordered some arctic silver from wootware, but picked up some regular silicone-based stuff (unick) from communica in the meantime. There's definitely something wrong tho - Realtemp reports a 100+ temp right after booting after being off for 20 minutes. As soon as I do any graphic-heavy work, it crashes.

Sorry to go a bit o/t - but if anyone knows any good repair centres in cpt (out of warranty pc) I'd really appreciate it. I've used the one in Montague Gardens before - think it's computer mania? Not sure how they stack up to other places, but some options would be nice.

Could be your GPU or MB that's faulty.
I had a similar issue.
Temperatures spiked a bit but the moment I put the machine under any kind of graphic load it crashed.

Not that I want to be negative about your situation.

Make sure the heatsink is firmly attached to the CPU.

Think that's it. The heatsink has these crap plastic mounting things that don't clamp properly. Just pushed the heatsink down by hand and the temp dropped immediately.

Oh wow, we assumed you had a clue :p

Heh. Stressing because there's work to get done. Will replace the heatsink next week. The guys at wootware made a good sales pitch :). Thx for the help.
