CPU Upgrade for Asus MN2PV-MX (AM2 Mobo)

Hi i have an AM2 motherboard and I want to upgrade my cpu.

I have read a few posts and cpu compatibility lists for the Asus MN2PV-MX mobo and it does not indicate the most recent cpus.

AM3 cpus should be compatible with AM2 mobos, i just dont want to buy it and find out it is incompatible.

Has anyone tried this? Please let me know? Thanx!

AM3 CPU's work in certain AM2 and AM2+ motherboards, with a BIOS update. The ASUS support site for your motherboard says nothing: http://asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=yjN4AeiHqvcZzqJw&templete=2

It doesn't say AM3 ready or anything like that.

It's not guaranteed that an AM3 CPU would work - in fact it probably won't.

I have the same mobo, and no, u can't drop in a AM3 cpu in it. Best bet is a X2 6000+ BE

I think it is only the AM2+ motherboards that are AM3 compatible.

Some AM2 boards do support Am3 chips with a reduced HT speeds IF there is a Bios available for it.
