I have the latest graphics drivers, although I'm only running a 8500GT.

I did some task killing, and I notice an improvement when closing FlashGet. FlashGet is especially resource hungry when downloading a torrent, more so than uTorrent.

P4's 64bit? I thought only the Core 2 line and up were 64bit ...

EDIT: System Information for Windows says its a Pentium 4 640, 64bit CPU.

I never knew that they had 64bit versions of the old P4. I don't suppose I'll notice any performance what-so-ever should I upgrade to Vista 64??

Technically back in the days p1's were even said to be 64bit cpu's (doesnt mean they can run 64bit oss's though)

Try moving your pagefile to a seperate partition eg. make a 3 gig partition just for that (doing that can do wonders sometimes)
