Lost and Confused...
Hi guys

I have never tried this before, I am attempting to create a VPN (MS Server 2003) and found some steps on the MS website. However, when I enable Routing and Remote Access, I loose all connectivity to the server. I cannot ping nor RDP to it.

Any advice from the forum?

Also, do you know of any site that has something like creating a VPN for dummies?

Thanks all

Firewall got enabled.

Follow the wizard in RRAS(Routing and remote Access)

Ag no, why didn't I think of that pesky firewall. Thank you!

Quick question, if I got two NIC's, can I connect both to the same switch? I believe that you need one NIC to have internet access and one for the internal network.

don't connect both to switch.

either disable one and only use one nic. or have one connected to the router and the other to the internal network on the switch.

In 2008 you only use one nic. 2003 think it's best to use both.

You can do either, dependant on how you set up your network. If the server is not acting as the internet gateway you can use 1 connection for everything, set RRA to point to the gateway address - just remember to forward the VPN ports to the server if the router is acting as the gateway
