I agree about the commentators. In the past there were English commentators who were real characters like Geoff Boycott, David Lloyd (Bumble), Bob Willis, Ian Botham, Graham Gooch, etc who put this lot to shame.

To be fair, Nass and Athers are very knowledgeable about the game and communicate this well. My least favourite of this commentary team is Mark Butcher who seems to always be trying too hard to impress.

Best was Charles Fortune.

Charles Fortune was an absolute legend, especially on radio in the days before we had TV in SA. I still remember his unique voice and commentary style very clearly and with great nostalgia. I was thinking more of TV commentators that played for England and became commentators after retirement. If you go wider, then there are lots of great characters like Tony Greig, Richie Benaud, Bill Lawry, Ian Chappell, Tony Cozier, Ian Smith, Simon Doull, Michael Holding, Sunil Gavaskar and many others.
