just ignore JK8, he just hates Smith for some reason, I think Graeme shagged his girlfriend or something. Even if we won the World Cup, he will find faults.

I dont hate Smith he just sucks as captain.
Should we win it will be well deserved, and about time.
youll see in real competition, like in the ICC champions trophy, he doesnt play smart and does make alot of bad decisions.

Smith is an arrogant captain. Something SA needed. I'm not a Smith fan but IMO one of the better captains we've had. There's no one atm that can replace Smith and that's why he is in the team.

Kallis - Boring captain, not innovative. Too worried about his own average at times to be a captain.
Boucher - Bows down to verbal pressure.
Pollock - Showed no innovations when he captained the side. Set very conventional fields frequently.

Kallis, Boucher and Pollock does not want to be captain, at least that is what they said. And then all the points above.
And for me the biggest plus for Smith at this stage is that the whole team, including the senior players, are behind him and support him fully. Meaning they will always give him their best.

Pollock - Bad time to be chosen as captain lots of controversy in SA cricket that period, but I think hes ready.
Arrogance as a team captain is not good, I never heard the players actually applaud him or agree with him. His arrogance will just bring him and the team down IMO.
Aus captains are arrogant, but then again most of their team is.
Look at Flemming known to most cricket fundis as being the best captain in world cricket, is he arrogant or brash??? Nope!

Pollock is too old to be captain. He's got a few more years and he's gonna retire. What's the point. SA want someone who can be there for a lengthy period. Smith has learnt a lot in the last few years. He's developed to be a good captain. Results against Pak and Ind showed it.
It showed SA is unbeatable at home. It showed how other countries suffer on our pitches. Thats about it.

neverminding the fact that we dont have the best team SA have had? Look at the team Smith had to captain. Half of them wasn't on form. Half of them were new. Ricky Ponting captains a team full of talent and the reason why Aus did well in the last few years. SA has a dysfunctional sports management team as well.

Compare SA teams to NZ teams... What makes Flemming so good is that he makes the best use of that NZ team. The NZ players IMO suck!
But with Flemmings guidance they win big games!
When australia won the WC in 99, they had a kuk team (my opinion). But with the captaincy of Steve waugh (and the droppped catch of gibbs lol) .. they won the tourament.

Ricky pontings case is a little different because he inherited a good unit, so his mind set would be different to that of someone whom knows he has not such a good team. And you cannot just adjust your thinking overnnight with something like this.
