Cricket world cup discussion thread

I see Rainer has taken 3 catches in the competition as well.
Not bad for someone who isn't in the starting 11

Who did Raina replace on Saturday?

Re: Raina - just checked that he got three catches in the first 5 games for India. Interesting that no ones really noticed until now.

Something I read on Twitter and just confirmed now - SA is the only team to bowl out opposition in every game thus far i.e. four matches --> 40 wickets.

Tahir has the best average at 8.90.

If its within the rules then why not.If we had a Jonty or a Gibbs as twelfth man then we would do the same.Unfortunately our Tsotsobe and Parnell would do more harm than good if they came in to bolster the fielding.

There is nothing unlawful of playing Raina that much, but I think it is against the spirit of the game. The would have a fielder swop rule per game if they wanted to allow that.

Ok, any guesses for team tomorrow?

Smith
Amla
Kallis
Ingrim
Duminy
Van Wyk
Du Plessis
Botha
Peterson
Steyn
Lopsy

Its actually against the rules but its virtually impossible to enforce. Players actually only allowed to go of for toilet breaks and if they are injured. Somehow the indians manage to get injured/need the loo more often then other sides except the english who also struggle with this hence luke wright being on the field a lot. Everyone else seems to have avoided this dreadfull illness.;)

No man, they just have weak bladders.

Johannesburg - South Africa's thrilling three-wicket victory over India in a Group B match in Nagpur in the ICC World Cup 2011 has helped them join the 1983 world champions on 118 ratings points in the ICC ODI Championship, which has been updated after the Bangladesh v Netherlands match played in Chittagong on Monday.

Victory for Graeme Smith's team earned them two ratings points, while India lost one point. However, Mahindra Singh Dhoni's side is still ranked just ahead of South Africa, in second place by a fraction of a point.

While joining India, South Africa leapfrogged Sri Lanka, who were just one point behind in fourth position. With the three teams playing this week (South Africa against Ireland, Sri Lanka against New Zealand and India against the West Indies), the ODI Championship table is likely to be reshuffled again, depending on how these three teams perform.

Australia continue to dominate the table, sitting pretty on 131 ratings points while fifth-ranked England has dropped two ratings points following their two-wicket defeat against Bangladesh in Chittagong last week.

In the Player ICC Rankings for ODI batsmen, South Africa's Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers continue to occupy the top two positions, while Australia's Michael Hussey has moved into third position, swapping place with India's Virat Kohli who has slipped to fourth position.

Other players to make progress in the right direction, since the start of the tournament on February 19, are Tillakaratne Dilshan (fifth), Virender Sehwag (eighth), Sachin Tendulkar (ninth), Shane Watson (10th), Jonathan Trott (11th) and Andrew Strauss (16th).

In the ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers, South Africa's Dale Steyn has achieved a career-best ranking. He has jumped five places to third position after splendid figures of 5-50 against India in Nagpur last Saturday, which later earned him the man-of-the-match award.

Steyn's jump means South Africa now has two bowlers in the top three, with Morne Morkel occupying second position, 37 ratings points behind top-ranked Daniel Vettori of New Zealand.

We now have the #1 and #2 ODI batsman + #2 and #3 ODI bowlers in the world.

Pretty formidable. WELL IN. now let's keep moving in the right direction and win this WC. We certainly have the players.
