Cricket world cup discussion thread

The only way England can go out of the worldcup now is if Bangladesh beat South africa and West Indies beat India.

Not impossible but unlikely. Anyway. I'm not phased at their progress and not obsessed with their exit from the tournament.
 
SA needs to throw the game against the Bangalies, to avoid another 22 runs off 1 ball scenario, in the semis, against England, or am I being cynical.

If they meet the Aussies in the quarters then we don't need to worry about that :D

Quarters are likely to be the following and correct me if I'm wrong.

OZ vs WI
SA vs Pakistan
Sri Lanka vs England
NZ vs India

The first two are almost certain. Then again we don't know which Pakistan will rock up tomorrow.

The second two will depend on who wins tomorrow between SL and NZ. I wouldn't write NZ off just yet, but SL should take it.

Well, they would be playing in Colombo, Sri Lanka on the very ground where Pakistan take on OZ and where they beat Sri Lanka.... so..... careful....

EDIT: Personally I would have preferred NZ or OZ in the quarters. Sri Lanka is the last team we want to meet in the quarters and Pakistan is dangerous but we played them enough times in the UAE to know what to expect. I'm sure we fancy our chances against them. We expect to beat them 6/10 x...

OZ haven't really been tested much. They going to come seriously short in the semi's. Lucky they got WI in the quarters and even there they may battle. Pollard, Gayle come off and all of a sudden you chasing the 8 ball. West Indian bowling attack is a bit toothless though but that's perhaps less of an issue on the sub continent...

You would be underestimating them again... UAE series means nothing now. I wouldn't be worried bout Aus if I was a proteas supporter, they have mastered the knock out tournament.

Underestimating who? Pakistan? Played 56 won 38 lost 18, SA's record against Pakistan... They're a dangerous team on the day but they will have to be at their best to beat us. 68% of the time we beat them so I'll take those odds... Is all I'm saying...
