I guess I am the lonely sod to think that Sri Lanka purposefully threw the game. Did anyone notice how in the 3rd last over they had a group conference for a few minutes and then chose the bowler with the worst figures for the day to bowl in the dying moments? Sounds crazy, but its true. When Dilshaan had plenty over to spare and a much better over rate, they chose the crappiest bowler to bowl.

Conspiracy theory most likely, but it makes no sense.

Conspiracy theory aside, I did wonder about that last bowling spell myself. Kulasekara wasn't cutting it (O - 8.2 M - 0 R - 64 W - 0 E - 7.68) and if they were going to use pace in the batting power play, why not put in Malinga? He only bowled 9 and granted, Malinga wasn't as accurate as we'd seen him throughout the tournament but during the batting power play, guys are most likely to step back, give themselves some width and go for the biggies. Malinga would have seen to it that had they missed, he would've hit. Loved watching him bowl this WC!

Of course there were other options too but as you say, the guy with the worst figures for the day?

Malinga said he found it difficult to grip the ball because of the dew, so did Murali and the other bowlers.

It's been an issue for all bowlers the whole tournament.
