The ANC government is now taking high profile cases seriously.
That's chiefly due to Ramaphosa purging the NPA or most of the Zuptoids (remember how Jiba had Mrwebi in the commercial crimes court protecting this gangster?). If it was up to the ANC they'd have appointed Jiba NDPP.

The question you need to ask is how these criminals came to head those units and also how it is possible that these criminals managed to turn government into their own mobster gangland?
You do realise that in an ideal world most of the cANCer government would be in jail?

Mdluli would be head of the Hawks.

What hope is there when those who are supposed to protect and lead a country are in bed with mobsters?

Only took 20 years but anyway, what does the judiciary have to do with ANC government? When is the Ace and Zwane show happening? 2040?
People here have the tendency to drag the judiciary and accuse it of being in bed with the ANC when they make unpopular decisions, they also blame the ANC when prosecutions don't happen as fast as they want, how many times have we heard people saying Ramaphosa and the ANC are useless because no one is in jail?

One would think the same people are supposed to be giving all the glory to Ramaphosa and the ANC now that Mdluli is in jail, but now the judiciary has nothing to do with the ANC? Slightly hypocritical, won't you say?

I still think this whole appeals thing has gotten out of hand. You should have your day in court. If found guilty then go ahead and appeal, but the clock starts ticking. If you take 2 years to finish all your appeals, then 2 years is added on to the original sentence. Make it a risk/reward type situation instead of a delaying tactic.

:laugh: no. It is simply due to mdluli no longer being in the "connected" crowd. He fell out of favour. Simpke as that.

It has not gotten out of hand, it is in the law and there is nothing wrong about people exercising their constitutional right to appeal. It's not up to the individual how long the appeal process take so why should you be punished for that? Should we also punish people if the court postpones a case and add the postponement period to their sentences if found guilty?

I know its frustrating to see lowlifes like Mdluli or Lungisa use the process to their advantage but we don't have one set laws for Mdluli and another set of laws for others, we have one law for everyone and that's how it's supposed to be.

Mdluli is a criminal and he is being treated exactly how every criminal should be treated when all agencies of government and the state are working. Zuma used the state apparatus to protect his friends and without that there is nothing left to protect the likes of Mdluli, simple as that.

What you are coming up with is Zuma's typical style of excuses and conspiracies.

I also find it extremely amusing that Mdluli and Criminal Co cry foul of being sent to jail as they won't be able to care for their families whilst at the same time finding the funding for appeals to the Constitutional Court?

These judges should slam these criminals with extreme fines and penalties and even double their sentence should their appeal be unsuccessful - for abusing the justice system by using dubious tactics.

I beg to differ, when a simple case of a drunk driver hitting a pedestrian or cyclist takes 5+ years to resolve AFTER the initial guilty verdict then its out of control. Every single time someone is found guilty, if they have the money, they go the appeal route, even if there are no reasonable prospects for success. It is all to stave off the start of their sentence.

Best example is JZ. He should spend all the time that he was out on appeals in jail as additional time because he wanted to play silly buggers.

I think the mistake we do make is to see "the judiciary" as one homogeneous body, effectively generalising; something well established in SA think and, in my view, always wrong (well almost). I won't elaborate:cool:.
