Crime stats, direct from community

hahaha crime is everywhere in this country. More like nice way to show the government a realtime report card on their crime fighting ability.

Ah cool, I suggested this idea in a thread a while ago. Nice to see it implemented.

make a post on telskum HQ coordinates --> "they stole my money... they robbed me blind of all my bandwidth" ;-)

My thoughts too. How about this one: http://www.crimeaware.co.za/crime/102

I'm at UCT and I'm pretty damn sure this didn't even make the varsity press.

Dubious.

I think an even bigger problem with the system is that people living in the most crime affected areas are the least likely to have internet access.

All it will really show is where crime is most likely to affect the middle class and relatively tech savvy.

I see the same problem. It will serve to support the perception that only certain groups are targets of crime.

I'm not impressed with the site. They've taken the e-blockwatch idea and mangled it. You cant easily browse crimes, which is what would be the most interesting feature. They want you name, address and telephone number, which is a bit much for an internet service.

I agree with you... way too much requested information

I would rather have a few false posts about crimes that DID NOT happen skewing the results, than the SAPS / ANC approach of under reporting.
