Couldn't see one and the 'Upcoming Games' thread was getting polluted.

______________

I'm about 4 hours in and it's both enticing and aggravating. Some of the decisions around controls are bizarre, like forcing you to button mash to sprint with the horse, or having to press an extra button (control on keyboard) to 'initiate' certain actions like talking to vendors or chopping down trees. And some odd, non-sensical quest design decisions, like having to drop the iron ore and timber off at the vendors' assistants halfway across Hernand, without the quest-giver ever telling you this. Just doesn't make sense from any perspective.

But the combat is pretty good so far, and feels quite meaty when you land blows. And the landscape and towns look great.

I probably need to play around with the the graphics settings too, but everything looks way over saturated and creates janky texture edges.

Really hope they roll those patches out quick, though. I got stuck in a random bucket/tub thing and couldn't get out, including through jumping (the precision jump action is strange). Also, not having storage at all is so weird. How do you spend 7+ years making a game and not think storage is an obvious thing to have available? It's even in the tent at the start, you just can't use it. Supposedly on the list to get patched quickly.

The director was apparently changed mid game.

I'm in act 4 now but I'll be putting this on ice. The main guy has the personality of a rock.

Anyways the an unpacking tool was posted on Nexus last night so mods will start rolling in. Curious to see what they do with this game.

I've put in 20 hours over the weekend. This is exactly the kind of game I can sink my teeth in and the graphics maxed out (specifically with the ray reconstruction setting turned on) is some of the best I've seen outside of Cyberpunk with path tracing. I will say that it wont be a game for everyone, the story is just mostly there to get you moving around the world and the controls are something else (luckily I can adapt to new and weird control schemes fairly easily).

Exploring the world is really satisfying and the combat is more fun that I expected. It's basically Dragons Dogma meets Red Dead 2 and I'm here for it.

First patch is out -

And for anyone on the fence I watched Darth yesterday and he sums it up pretty well -

Loving how rapidly they are getting these out. Keen to get home tonight to check it out.

Yeah, looks and runs great for me maxed out. No messing about with visual settings at all.

That's impressive. Not a moment's rest after launch. I see they say mouse/keyboard control improvements.

I think I must be taking this game the slowest out of anyone out there. I spent the first hour collecting different types of insects.
I'm on controller though which can't be remapped and I can't remember all the mappings.

Yes I'm a PC gamer but I'm not behind a desk. I'm on a couch hence a controller.

I don't think they'll ever be able to fix controller mappings. There's too many and not enough buttons.

Interact literally has 4x different mappings depending on what you interact with. For those reading and not playing no, I'm not joking.

Speaking of I'm also hoping for more options in future. I passionately hate lens flare and want to turn that **** off but I can't.

Yeah, it is concerning even on kb/mouse. I hope they allow the user to customise the basic movement keys from w-a-s-d because you need so many multipliers that you run out being all the way over on the left of the kb. What's most concerning for me is how actions break when re-mapping. The on-screen prompts prompt with my custom keybinds but they straight up don't work. For eg. my mouse 2 is jump. When fishing I had to disable jump so that I could set the hook. Not ideal.

Do not play this game for a story. This is an explorer's wet dream but a narrative-driven adventure it is not. Its bag slots, gear, skills and ingrediants.

I'll post updates in the other thread from now on. Just unlocked Damiane.
Thanks for this . Makes my decision of the boycott due to denuvo easier as I wouldn't have enjoyed it anyway. Being a 70/30 story focused gamer.

What's even the point of a game if you don't immediately fill your inventory with dragonflies and beetles?

Haha! Well I'm a noob with this sort of game so I saw something like 'knowledge gained!' with each new critter and thought it was either important or would somehow come in handy. Then I start getting a bit OCD with the whole thing.

Oh well, at least it's purdy out there frolicking in the meadows.

Took me more than 40 minutes to finally tame this mthrfkr omg. Black Legendary horse Rokade.

And took me 3 hours trekking around the map avoiding mobs to get the Armor of Shadows pieces. Yeah I still need the helm and gloves. And cool shield. An adventure for another day.

Game looks good. I like playing games that feed my OCD where I can go anywhere and collect everything. Will wait a while to play though for mods. Mods like infinite storage will be a must have.
