Have you tried running xp? Maybe ati have dodgy 64 bit drivers like most of their drivers.

Soz mate, but no, I don't, but we can always put my card in your pc.
To test, obviously and of course, this will be done at my place. 
I'm running Vista 64bit as well with the 8.12 drivers...

no more dodgy than nvidia, seems you keep saying you are no fanboi but you love putting AMD down, strange
p.s. i run vista 64 ultimate and i have had no hassles with drivers so i am speaking from experience

I don't put ati down nor am i a fanboi of nvidia, i just remember the drivers issues i had with my 3870 and the driver problems i have heard about ati, my buddie used to have a 2900xt, you want to see poor drivers and the promise the next set of drivers will magically change the card into a half decent piece of crap .
Crossfire is plagued by a major driver flaw in that you need them to update the drivers or new games won't use both cards.
I dunno qx its going to take alot to convince me nvidia drivers are as bad as ati's, Call me a fanboi but i never have driver issues with nvidia.

On the first I may have had my EPU engine on auto which saves power, but its supposed to adjust wen needed. Second test i put it on turbo haha. Not sure that made the difference though.

Since my 88 i been using AMD and not had a single issue so far and that is using single and xfire but anyway it is a no win discussion
p.s. you never owned a 7950x2 then i gather as people are still to this day bitching about them
posting a single 3Dmark score doesn't help at all - we need to see if it's even making a difference!

Catalyst control just disable crossfire, no need to take anything out
Then how do i select which card? Swop the screen cable?

hmmm i always use the top card for my screen so never had to worry about it.
p.s. it should not matter as both cards are still registered but crossfire is not applied to them

Just disable cf and run vantage, see what happens
