Hey guys just got a new XFX 4870 1Gb for Crossfire with my Sapphire 4870 1Gb.

Here's the problem, I uninstalled the drivers for my card and reinstalled them after putting the XFX in with both Xfire bridges.

Everything seems fine, they both show up in CCC, can change clocks etc. I ran 3DMark Vantage and all these strange lines appears(that seems resolved now though) and doesn't seem to render right, it's all over the place. Even the flags test flip out and go all bent and twisted.

I started up Prototype and it flipped out too, everything is like flickering all over. So I don't what the issue is.

Please help if you can, I'm really stuck. Thanks.:erm:
 
I'd think so, it's on a Gigabyte 720W Odin. I was told it's enough.
 
Maybe the clockspeeds on the two cards are different but I would have thought the speeds would sync at the lowest clocked card, just what I'm thinking.
P.S. Don't take my info as proof.
 
It's strange, in CCC it shows the Sapphire card Core clock at 500Mhz/1000 yet it's set to 775Mhz inline with the XFX default. I swapped the card around and it seemed to fixing the stuttering etc but it still feels too sluggish for Xfire.
 
Well post your rig, and the resolution of your monitor. Also are you using 2 monitors? And what os are you using, maybe then ill be able to help you, i also got crossfire and its running smooth atm.

4GB DDR2 800 Transcend RAM
Gigabyte Odin 720W PSU
BioStar 790GX A2+
Sapphire & XFX 1Gb xFire
Samsung SyncMaster 2032 20' and Sinotec 32'cm HD TV(Both at 1680x1050)
Samsung DVD Writer etc
Gigabyte G Power2 Pro CPU Cooler.

Is my CPU maybe bottle necking Crossfire?
 
OK remove the one crossfire bridge, sometimes when you use both bridges on low resolutions then you will see the lines all over your screen.
Also be 100% sure that the cards 3D clock speeds are the same, check this by using gpu-z or ATI overdrive. Also when using 2 screens, the 2D Memory clock values of the two cards will differ, the main card memory clock will be locked in 3D.

Also remember that some games does not fully support crossfire, and its usually then when youl see the lines. This issue can be resolved by using ATI Crossfire Extension Tool were you can force a game to use a different crossfire mode.

I think the 3GHz quad will be able to keep up with the 2 cards. Hope this helped you.
 
What I tried was, switching the 2 cards around, that seemed to have solved the issue. I am using Catalyst 9.7. I ran 3DMark Vantage again and it seemed fine. I got a score of 16079 which is kinda low but it's my processor that's the problem.

I'll have to upgrade it to a Phenom II eventually.
