I just bought myself a nice little 4670. Now Im wondering when I upgrade whether I should look into a crossfire motherboard and maybe down the line put in another 4670 to run in crossfire. The crossfire mobos are a bit more pricey however.

If so can anyone give any links to a crossfire mobo (intel) for under R1.5k

Dunno what I did with the topic 0.o. Guess it's way too early for me.

hey... You can get a hold of some cheap P35 mobo's now with have crossfire... and from what i've read, 2 hd4670's = 1 hd4850... which mean's it's probably best to just wait... I mean, in june the HD5800 series is rumored to release and those have dx11

Yup, unless you have load of cash to splash don't bother with crossfire. Rather get the fastest card you can afford, then when it's time to upgrade, get a new fastest card. Imo crossfire should mainly be considered if you alreade have 1 fast card, but want more performance now.

Not really postman, actually crossfire and sli is not good with higher resolution as you only use the memory from one card, so buy a bigger card with more memory is normally better for higher resolutions.

Are you using intel or amd?

Decotey did indicate in the first post that it's Intel...though very well hidden in some () ;)

You're right, especially on a lower-end card like the 4670. Most discussions I have read about Xfire/SLI are with high end 1GB+ cards, in which case they say the biggest differences are noticeable at higher resolutions? I was under the impression that both cards' memory was combined, but now I realise that while both cards' memory is being used in "splitting" the load, it isn't combining both amounts. Correct?

This.

One 5670 later will outperform two 4670s. Just wait for the DX11 cards dude.

You should remember that not all games support dual card setups too.

Yea like 2 512 cards in sli does not amount to 1 gig total memory as far as i know, its still only a 512 ram setup so higher resolution like 2560 etc will struggle.

It will be a good investment, but if u wanting the best for right now(as in u cant wait anymore!)...sell ur 4670 for R600-R700, add in the R1500 and get urself a 4850 (ICEQ TURBOX?)

If u looking into the future...stay like this til the hd5 series and hopefully our rand value is higher by then
