Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Any news on CW and price reductions after Openserve's IPC pricing cut?

CW? Trend setting with price cuts? Yea right. They are a trend follower, wait till one of the main ISPs drop. They follow suit within the day.

Aren't you the dude they accused of something illegal a while back?

In short yes. CW robbed me of 1k, refuse to give the money back. Won't reply to emails or tell me exactly the offense I've committed. To this day I still don't know exactly what I did wrong.

I somewhat feel good about it tho. Karma has struck hard, CW has gone to *****.

WTF - sounds like something @rpm should look into. They do seem to be a shady bunch over at CW.

And how does that help a CW customer?

It means that CW might finally stop reselling IS products and invest in their own network. Glad I'm keeping a capped account with them for my downloads.

It is all about Customer Service.

You can own the whole interwebs, but if your Customer Service suck, you will go down.

True, Crystal Web reminds me of Openweb when it comes to customer service... but at least they have unlimited usage hours I can throw my downloads onto.

DUDE, you got me red handed there.

But like I said, if you don't look after your customers, it means nothing.

Yep, shows how they were in it for the $ and pulled a runner from the forum, or lost interest.

Wonder where all that talk about Evonet/XtremeTTH, dual-network and stuff went. Would have been great to see.

I looked up the info for AS328239.

https://www.tcpiputils.com/browse/as/328239

Paul is listed there, as expected, but Shaun is not. Instead there's a guy called Brian Seligmann. No idea who he is or where he fits into the company.

Seems Shaun isn't anywhere. I wonder if he's still at Crystal Web.

I checked the other dude. Brian Seligmann is some dude who was at MTN, then Cell-C and now Evonet, which is (from what I gather) a branch of Crystal Web. Maybe they're changing brands because this one was too badly damaged with the recent performance issues?

I looked into Brian a bit... his Twitter bio recently changed from "CEO of Evonet Telecommunication" to "MD of EvoNet Telecommunication" - take that for what you will. Reading his Twitter reminded me of reading Donald Trumps for some reason.

Keen to see what he can bring to the table at Crystal Web.

Onto Evonet though, I looked into their info and found their offices:

This reminds me of when we found Openweb's office park... in the middle of an empty field or next to a Lightning Warehouse or something.

Do you see the IS Ransburg data centre in that empty field as well? My google-fu says they are in the same business park?

Well, the field we found Openweb in, is in KZN. So I doubt you'd find the IS Randburg DC there.

So why the reference to OW in this thread then?

Looking at Evonet's offices reminded me of when we found Openweb's. A silly similarity.

I'm struggling to find out what Evonet's services are, I'm keen to try them.

There is absolutely no similarity. If you had searched for another minute you'd find it across the road from the IS Randburg DC and right next door to Vumatel's recent offices.

It's funny how my internet service - and that includes support - from CW has always been exemplary, and besides a few streaming issues a few months back, I seem to have zero issues, whilst others have **** every day.

I guess it must be isolated to fibre on certain providers.

I'll play around with Google Maps a bit more to try and find it
